A number of batteries were set up including a diversionary one set up by his Danish troops on the northern side. On the 7th a sufficient breach had been made and the Governor beat a parley and sought terms. These were not agreed. On the 8th the same thing happened but Marlborough did not permit this delaying tactic to work a second time. As the storming party was about to attack the Governor surrendered unconditionally.
